How many mistakes can you make in the Dutch theory exam?

In the Dutch car theory exam you can make 6 mistakes, because you pass with 44 of the 50 questions right. For a motorcycle that is 9 mistakes (41 right) and for a scooter or moped 7 mistakes (43 right). You get one result for all 50 questions.

For a scooter or moped you can make 7 mistakes.

Does hazard perception still count separately?

No, for the car only your total has counted since 7 April 2025, wherever your mistakes are in the exam.

Reading somewhere about a separate pass mark for hazard perception, knowledge or insight? That is the old exam. For motorcycle and moped, too, the CBR names only one pass mark for all 50 questions.

Do the test questions count?

No, you answer 52 questions, but only 50 count towards your result.

How much time do you get with extra time?

With extra time you get 15 minutes more, so 45 minutes instead of 30.

How to practise for the pass mark

When practising, aim for at least 2 mistakes below the limit, so 4 or fewer for the car.

On the day you’re more nervous than at home, and one tricky question can make the difference. Take your practice exams against the clock and count your mistakes the way the CBR does.
