Ordering and payment
What does a course cost and is everything included?
Every course costs a one-time € 49.95 including VAT. That covers everything: all topics with explanations, practice questions and 50 practice exams, plus asking a theory teacher questions. You book and pay for your CBR exam separately at the CBR. Got a code from an ambassador? Then you pay € 10 less.
How do I pay and who sends the invoice?
You pay with iDEAL on the secure payment page of Mollie, a Dutch payment provider. Your receipt or invoice comes from TheoriePlek, in the confirmation email.
Can I pay for someone else?
Yes, including for your child. Enter the email address of the person who will be learning; the access code arrives there, so they can start right away. Buying for several people, for example as a company or driving school? Choose "I'm buying for a business" at checkout and order several codes at once.
Can I cancel my purchase?
For digital products delivered immediately, the right of withdrawal lapses as soon as your access code is delivered; you agree to that when ordering. Read the terms for the exact rules.
Access and activation
How do I activate my course?
Right after payment you start via the start button, the link in your confirmation email or your access code. Activating is a one-time step; after that you simply log in with your email address.
I did not receive a confirmation email. What now?
Check your spam or promotions folder first and search for TheoriePlek. Nothing there? Request a new link via the "Lost access" page, or email us with the address you ordered with.
Which devices can I learn on?
On a phone, tablet or computer. You only need a browser and internet. Your progress is saved across devices.
How long do I have access?
You keep access until you have your driving licence. The latest end date is in your confirmation email.
The course
How is the course structured?
Eight chapters of short texts with illustrations and diagrams, and you can have all of it read aloud. For car and motorcycle, a short video recaps each section. After every chapter you practise with questions, then you take 50 practice exams. You set your own pace and your progress is saved.
What exactly are the 50 practice exams?
Full practice exams modelled on the real theory exam. After each practice exam you review every question, with an explanation of the answers. In the English course, the practice exams and every explanation are in English too. You take each practice exam once.
Can I switch between Dutch and English?
Each language is its own course with its own code, so the English course doesn't include Dutch. Taking the exam in Dutch without an interpreter? Then pick Dutch, so you already know the words the exam uses. Picked the wrong language or vehicle after all, and haven't (really) practised yet? Send us a quick message and we'll get your course switched.
Can I ask questions when I am stuck?
Yes. You can ask a theory teacher.
Exam and CBR

Is this course made for the Dutch theory exam?
Yes, that's exactly what it's made for! Good to know: TheoriePlek is an independent provider. It isn't an official CBR course and we don't work with the CBR.
Are these the real CBR exam questions?
No. The real exam questions are secret, and we don't copy them. Our practice questions are very similar, with an explanation of the answers.
How do I book my theory exam?
Yourself at the CBR, via mijn.cbr.nl or through a driving school authorised to book for you. The exam fee is paid to the CBR and is separate from your course.
How long is my theory exam result valid?
A year and a half, from the day you pass. You need to pass your practical exam within that time too. Your course access runs until you have your licence, so you can practise at ease before you book your exam.
I have a foreign driving licence. Do I need the theory exam?
That depends on the country. A licence from the EU or EFTA can be exchanged without an exam. From outside the EU, that's only possible if the Netherlands has an agreement with that country, or if you qualify for the expat scheme. Otherwise you take the theory and practical exams again.
Can I take the CBR exam in English?
For the car, yes: you can take that theory exam at the CBR in English. For a motorcycle or moped you book an exam with an interpreter. You cannot bring your own interpreter. Our course is in Dutch or English for all three. Verified on 25 September 2026.
From what age can I take the theory exam?
Moped (AM) from age 15.5, car (B) from 16 and motorcycle (A) from 17. These ages are set by the CBR and can change. Check cbr.nl for the current rules. Verified on 5 September 2026.
Does motorcycle theory cover A1, A2 and A?
Yes. The CBR has one motorcycle theory exam for all three; the difference is in the practical exam. Practical exam: A1 from 18, A2 from 20 and A from 21. Already hold A1 or A2? Then you do not need to take the theory exam again. Verified on 23 September 2026.
